The summer season in Cecina Mare attracts every year thousands of tourist coming from all Italy and Europe looking for a holiday characterized by relax, artistic and oenogastronomic culture.
Marina di Cecina succeeds in satisfying its tourists, offering perfect solutions between the natural offer of the coast and of the inland with a variety of wine shops and renowned wineries, as Bolgheri and Montescudaio, and for the artistic part towns as Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena and Florence, all reachable in short time.
The clean and crystal clear sea, blue flag for many years, offers any possibility of entertainment to water-sports lovers, from the simple swimming to breath-held divings and with the help of professional Centers as the 'Diving Cecina' and 'Spot One', which offers sailing, windsurf and surf courses for all levels.
Not less important is the age-old pinewood 'il tombolo' both in the North and in the South. In the southern part it extends for about 7 km as far as the near centre Bibbona, in the northern one as far as the Mazzanta. In the pinewoods is easy to find natural cycle courses, paths with different difficulty levels for jogging and open-air walks, always immersed in an unpolluted nature, where the main setting is the great botanical variety of typical plants of the Mediterranean bush.
During the summer season there are lots of events sponsored both at private level and promoted by cultural associations for beneficial purposes. We find organized open-air shows, recitals, classic and modern music displays, concerts like that one organized by ADMO every summer in July, where alternate singers of TV great renown. Art exhibitions propose to the tourist who loves both entertainment and culture, guided visits in the archaeological sites of the Paleolithic, Etruscan and Roman age.
During August holiday, among the main events, the feast of the 'Madonna of the sea', whose program foresees the mass execution where take part the most important (and not) political offices, followed by a bright procession in the sea with great many boats of the marina, the tombola in Largo Cairoli Square and at the end a firework display.
One of the most important event of he year is the Targa Cecina, folkloristic and sports display. The town divided in districts present the allegorical floats in a parade, competing for the first prize awarded to the district which has realised for design and imagination the best float.
All sports facilities are a short way away the town centre: tennis courts, five-a-side football, track and field sports, swimming pools, riding schools, furthermore it is possible to do at the marina diving, rowing and sailing courses, with initiation and specialization lessons. Moreover, you can pleasantly spend, not only for the children, relax and entertainment hours in the great water park recognizable for its high and coloured slides.
Fixed event to point out, the small antique market every last Sunday of the month, enriching and animating the pedestrian area of Cecina with stalls rich of curious objects and old furniture.
The central position of the town between the sea and the green hills, makes it a pleasant seat where the gastronomic tradition well combines typical sea recipes as the famous Cacciucco with dishes based on products as mushrooms or game, which the skilled hands of expert cooks can suggest to the clientele with ingredients of rich typical flavours of our lands.
From the sea to the hill mingle coloured and typical village festivals, which animate the evenings of all the nearest villages around Cecina, as the most renowned Bolgheri, but also Casale Marittimo, Guardistallo, Montescudaio, Riparbella, accompanying and gladdening with their products the course of the year.
